Care planning is an essential activity for any child within your program. This is the case for children that have been reintegrated due to COVID-19, those that were already in family based care and those that are remaining in residential care.
Each child should have two crucial documents: a sheet that covers their Essential Information and one that establishes their Care Plan. Ideally, these documents should be very detailed, however the pandemic is not an ideal situation. Provide the best information that you can and deliver the content to the child’s primary caregiver. If the caregiver is low literacy, break down this information to very simple, but critical information to ensure safe care of the child.
